These close cousins of edible (or drinkable) grapes are highly valued for their attractive deeply lobed dark green foliage. Being vigorous tendril climbers they will quickly form a canopy of cool green when grown over trellis work, arbours and pergolas. The summer flowers are inconspicuous and are usually followed by small black bitter tasting berries i.e. inedible. The dark green foliage turns to warm autumn shades prior to leaf fall. Cultivation is exactly the same as for Edible or Wine Grapes. See our How To pages for more information.
